Demand responseGenerate a new revenue stream for your business while helping to stabilize the grid, with our demand response program.
Our demand response agreements provide you with unique insights into your energy environment with advance notice of peak days, which can help you:
- Reduce energy consumption during peak periods of demand on the grid
- Manage energy costs through insights and peak day notifications
- Support your sustainability goals
We are a Curtailment Service Provider (CSP) in PJM and a Level IV Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE) in ERCOT. This means we offer our demand response program wherever PJM and ERCOT operate, which includes:
- District of Columbia
- New Jersey
Demand response is all about easing the stress on the grid. You can do this by either lowering your power consumption or shifting to alternative sources of power for the handful of hours each year that the need arises.
Turning up thermostats, turning off non-essential lighting, changing settings on industrial freezers, and cycling off water pumps are some simple actions that can help.
We will alert you of an upcoming demand response event as soon as we receive notification from either PJM or ERCOT.
These notifications range from 10 – 120 minutes prior to an event, as determined by the governing authority. Both organizations allow demand response programs year-round.
- Economic demand response
- Call-option-based demand response
- ISO capacity, emergency, and ancillary demand response
- Utility emergency and tariff cost management response
- Combinations of the above during different times of the day and year
With more than 575 MW of dispatchable load under contract, we manage approximately 25% of the demand response in ERCOT.
